Cooking Steps

Fill the Pastry
1
  • Preheat the oven to 220°C/200°C fan/gas mark 7.
  • Finely chop the chives. Chop the bacon into 1cm cubes.
  • Unfold the pastry, keeping it on its paper to allow for easier rolling.
  • Spread a thin layer of mustard over the pastry, leaving a 1cm border on all sides. Sprinkle over the paprika.
  • Arrange the bacon on top. Scatter over the cheese and chives. IMPORTANT: Wash hands and equipment after handling raw meat.
Shape and Bake the Pinwheels
2
  • Using the baking paper to help you, roll up the pastry from the longer side, enclosing the filling to make a spiral.
  • Trim and discard 1cm from each end of the pastry log. Carefully slice the remainder into 2cm thick rounds.
  • Place the pinwheels on a lined baking tray. Space well apart.
  • Brush with oil and bake until golden, 20-25 mins. IMPORTANT: Cook bacon thoroughly.

TIP: Use a serrated knife for easier slicing to avoid squashing the pastry.

Serve Warm
3
  • Once the pastry pinwheels are puffed and golden, remove the tray from the oven.
  • Transfer to a large plate for sharing.
